Project 1 Quantified self
In Morden society, people are more and more interesting on show solicitude for the data of relating to their self, such as sports data, sleep data, chat data, reading data, and so on. People use this method of recording data to quantify and clearly see the changes and details in one aspect of their life. In my point of view, this kind of data collection is like people keeping a diary, it is a kind of way to record people’s life. In this project, I also began to try to quantify the things that are relevant to my life.

LJ's Mind Map
After I made the mind map, I decided to take 'Recording Vocabularies of items in my room' and 'Recording the unknown vocabularies of Sherlock Holmes' as my quantitative projects. I hope I could learn more English words while I finish the project. Then I started to record the data every day and came up with some ideas around those two quantitative themes.

Outcome
I mainly chose to use red colour to express the information that I presented. Because this project I purpose to record English vocabularies in my daily life from the items of my room and reading the book of ‘Sherlock Holmes’. In this project, I used traditional Chinese style to express the picture of my design, the reason is that I want to create a cultural contrast to highlight the value of my recording data. Because English is not my first language, if a person’s native language is English while recording the English vocabularies in daily life that will makes no sense. In one of design works of project 1, I use Chinese seal’s vision to present the data I have recorded, the Chinese seal ink colour is red, so red is the main colour in this work. The colour use should relative with the content of information designed.
'Recording the unknown vocabularies of Sherlock Holmes' I used the visual elements of ancient Chinese writing paper. The purpose is also to highlight the significance of my record and design of these data.
